Volunteo or eBrigade?

Both are French, plain and hosted in France. They do not solve the same problem though: eBrigade follows volunteers over time, we fill shifts on a date.

What we will not do on this page

We do not quote a competitor's price, and we describe their product only from what their publisher makes public. Check with them before deciding: what is written here was read on the date at the foot of this page, and software moves.

Two jobs, not two versions of one

eBrigade presents itself as a tool for managing a team over time: a record per volunteer, their skills, their history, their documents, renewal alerts. Its publisher also puts forward hours tracking, expense reimbursement and tax receipts for donated time. That is the kit of an organisation that has to account for its activity, year after year.

We start from the other end: a dated mission. A position, an hour, a required head count, volunteers booking their shift, substitutes when it is full. What occupies us is the gap still open on Saturday morning, not a volunteer's annual total.

What we do, and you can verify

  • A public price you can work out in advance: a price per accepted volunteer, or a fixed-price annual licence for an activity running all year. Both are on the site, with no quote to request.
  • Volunteers booking their own shifts, with substitutes and a waiting list: see shift booking.
  • Weekly shift series: a year of shifts is entered once.
  • A manager per team, approving and chasing their own people without seeing the rest: teams and positions.
  • Badges, perks charged by QR code and Word mail merge: badges and perks, documents and mail merge.
  • Twelve years in production and more than four thousand events created since 2014.

What we do not have

Said plainly, because you would find out anyway: no valuation of hours (we record attendance and total the hours actually worked, but with no hourly rate and no statement to attach to a funding application), no tax receipt for donated time, no expense handling and no mobile app (the site works on a phone, which is not the same thing). For an organisation that owes its funder an hours report, those gaps are decisive.

When eBrigade is the right choice

  • You have to record and justify your volunteers' hours.
  • You issue tax receipts for donated time, or reimburse expenses.
  • Your first need is the volunteer's file: skills, signed documents, deadlines to watch.
  • You coordinate field teams continuously, with no event dates to fill.

When we are the right choice

  • Your job is filling shifts, and you want volunteers to do it themselves.
  • You run dated events, on their own or alongside your regular activity.
  • You want to know the price before talking to anyone, and start today.
  • You need badges, perks charged to a badge, personalised documents, or to delegate to partner organisations.

Frequently asked questions

Can we try without committing?

Yes: creating an event is free, and the first eleven accepted volunteers of its first edition are on us. Build your teams, open registrations, and decide afterwards.

Do you track volunteering hours?

Partly. A manager records each volunteer arriving at their post and leaving it, and the volunteers list totals the hours actually worked beside the planned ones. What we do not do is value them: no hourly rate, no tax receipt for donated time, no statement ready to attach to a funding application.

Is our data hosted in France?

Yes, and the data processing agreement is downloadable without asking. Retention periods are applied by the tool rather than left to your vigilance.

Written by the publisher of Volunteo and checked on 10 October 2026. What is said here about another solution comes from what its own publisher makes public; we do not reproduce any competitor's price, and we invite you to check with them before deciding.
